Additional Information

Lancastre Vase

An armorial Chine-de commande vase, made for the Portuguese market. It bears the arms of D. Pedro de Lancastre Silveira Valente Castelo Branco Vasconcelos Barreto e Meneses (1697-1752). The globular body is moulded around the bottom with lotus leaves in relief and it stands on a high conical foot. The body is decorated in underglaze blue, the red, green and gold colours added later in Europe. These armorial pieces were probably ordered in Macau.
